Systems at Xchanging, a subsidiary of Global IT services and solutions provider DXC Technology was hit by ransomware over the weekend.

Global IT services and solutions provider DXC Technology disclosed a ransomware attack that infected systems at its Xchanging subsidiary.

Xchanging is a business process and technology services provider and integrator, which provides technology-enabled business services to the commercial insurance industry.

Xchanging employs over 7,000 people worldwide and offers IT outsourcing, infrastructure including network managed services, software products and application management.

The company has customers in many industries, including financial services, automotive, education, healthcare, manufacturing and aerospace and defense,

DXC Technology files an 8-K form with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The company disclosed the security breach on July 5, but it is not clear when it has discovered the attack. The company did not disclose details about the cyber attack either the family of ransomware that infected its systems.

“DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) announced today that certain systems of its subsidiary, Xchanging, have experienced a ransomware attack. Xchanging is primarily an insurance managed services business that operates on a standalone basis.” reads the data breach notification published by the company. “The company is confident that this incident is isolated to the Xchanging environment. In addition, DXC does not have any indication at this time that data has been compromised or lost.”

According to Xchanging, only an undisclosed number of customers was impacted by the cyberattack. DXC reported the incident to law enforcement and is working with affected customers to restore access to their operating environment.

The company announced to have implemented a series of containment and remediation measures to mitigate the incident.
