PlayStation Network has been down for nearly a day, with little communication from Sony, leaving players frustrated.

PlayStation Network has been down for almost a day all over the world, Sony confirmed it is aware of the global outage, but has yet to provide technical info about the issue.

Many users reported issues with the PlayStation Network services at around 11 pm on Thursday.

“We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN,” reads a post published by PlayStation on X.

After more than 24 hours, almost every online service is still facing issues, according to the status page.

Account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video and the PlayStation store are experiencing issues.

Some experts suspect that the root cause of the issues could be a cyber attack. Below are the posts of the security researcher Dominic Alvieri who also highlighted a disturbing trend:

PlayStation Network has faced major outages in the past, notably in 2011 when a hack compromised user data and forced a 23-day shutdown. The PSN breach exposed the data of millions of users, costing Sony $15 million in settlements and a year of identity theft protection for subscribers.

According to the status page, all services are up and running.
