Magento 2.3.4

Magento has released version 2.3.4 to address multiple vulnerabilities, some of them are critical code execution issues.

Magento version 2.3.4 has addressed several vulnerabilities in its e-commerce platform, come of them are critical code execution issues.

The vulnerabilities affect Magento Commerce (2.3.3/2.2.10 and below), Open Source (2.3.3/2.2.10 and below), Enterprise Edition (1.14.4.3 and earlier), and Community Edition (1.9.4.3 and earlier).

“Magento has released updates for Magento Commerce and Open Source editions.  These updates resolve critical and important vulnerabilities.  Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary code execution.” reads the security advisory.

Below the releases available for download:

Magento version 2.3.4 fixes a total of 6 vulnerabilities, three of them rated as critical severity, the remaining rated as important.

One of the three critical issues, tracked as CVE-2020-3719, is an SQL injection flaw and could be exploited by attackers to leak sensitive information.

The other two critical flaws, tracked CVE-2020-3716 and CVE-2020-3718, are a deserialization of the untrusted data and a security bypass issue respectively and both could lead arbitrary code execution.

The remaining three important flaws are two stored cross-site scripting vulnerabilities and a path traversal issue that could be exploited by attackers to leak sensitive information.

Administrators of Magento-based e-stores are recommended to install Magento 2.3.4 as soon as possible because the risk that threat actors could exploit the issues to compromise their installs is high.

At the time Magento is not aware of any attacks exploiting the issues in the wild.

Magento stores are privileged targets of Magecart attack aimed at stealing payment card data through the compromise of the installs and the injection of an e-skimmer.

Technical details of the new release 2.3.4 are available on the Magento website.
