US CISA added critical vulnerability CVE-2023-26359 in Adobe ColdFusion to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) added a critical flaw CVE-2023-26359 (CVSS score 9.8) affecting Adobe ColdFusion to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog.

Adobe fixed the critical flaw in March 2023, it is a deserialization of untrusted data issue in Adobe ColdFusion that can lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.

“Adobe ColdFusion versions 2018 Update 15 (and earlier) and 2021 Update 5 (and earlier) are affected by a Deserialization of Untrusted Data vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.” reads the advisory for this issue.

The advisory pointed out that the exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction.

Adobe is aware of “very limited attacks” in the wild exploiting this ColdFusion flaw.

According to Binding Operational Directive (BOD) 22-01: Reducing the Significant Risk of Known Exploited Vulnerabilities, FCEB agencies have to address the identified vulnerabilities by the due date to protect their networks against attacks exploiting the flaws in the catalog.

Experts recommend also private organizations review the Catalog and address the vulnerabilities in their infrastructure.

CISA orders federal agencies to fix this flaw by September 11, 2023.
